   HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE

           
This college was started in September 1987 by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr.N.T.Rama Rao, at Hindupur. At the outset the college Development committee Chairman Sri.N.Dasaratha Ramaiah Garu, donated Rs.3.Lakhs as corpus fund. And shown 3 acres of land for college Building construction . But unfortunately in the year 2000, that allotted land is distributed to the land loosers of road widening, by the district collector, Subsequently the state govt. sanctioned Rs.20 Lakhs for building construction but it was lapsed due to non-availability of the land. Since 1987 the college was temporarily accommodated in the local M.G.M.High School building. Later in 2006 the college was shifted to the newly constructed present building. The college is affiliated to Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Anantapur.

              AIM OF THE NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEM



The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public         service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of     India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organised by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
                                                          
OBJECTIVES BEHIND THE NSS:

  • To enable the students to understand the community in which they work.
  • To understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • To identify the needs and problems in the community in the solution of which they can be involved.
  • To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • To apply education- find practical solution to individual & community problems.
  • To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilising community participation.
  • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters
  • To practice national integration.

NSS ACTIVITIES

Two special camps are conducted at Sadlapalli, Moruvapalli, by the NSS Coordinator Sri.T.Narayana Swamy, Lec.in.Commerce.
Through these camps various activates like plantation, Blood donation, Eye donation, Health & hygienic awareness and stress on women’s education and empowerment are organized.
Moreover importance of saving money is also given vast publicity by NSS volunteers among the Villagers.
Nearly six students 1. K.Prabhavathi (III BZC) 2. Rohini (III BZC) at S.K.Univeristy Level & went to Bhopal for trekking selections.

An awareness rally was organized on 28th January, 2011 to propagate the ideals of Gandhiji in support of Khadi.

NCC ACTIVITIES

Kalyani of final BZC attended youth motivation camp conducted at Chennai in June 2010. A.Lavanya ---> III B.A
T.Anusha ---> III B.A
D.Yamuna ---> III B.A
Have attended NCC Camps at Kurnool, Kakinada & Pre-RDC Camp at Secunderabad, they won 1st Prize in P.M.Rally.

PERFORMANCE OF THE STUDENTS:

Raziya, Nagaveni of III BZC got 18th & 32nd rank in P.G.Entrance.
Suhasini of final B.Com secured 2nd rank in the P.G.Entrance out of 6 Universities in the Zone.
At District level Quiz competition conducted at Govt.Degree College, Kalyandurg, K.Prabhavathi & K.N.Aruna got second prize.
Most of the students of our college got ranks & Joined in B.Ed.,

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Various cultural competitions are conducted and selected students are sent to district and zonal level.

won 12 prizes at District level at GDC(M), Anantapur.during December 2011. Especially the drama enacted on Sri Krishnadevarayulu won all-round appreciation.

MANA TV PROGRAMMES

Our college is connected with MANA-TV live telecast programmes of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education. These programmes are providing latest updates to the students in all subjects. Sri.K.Venugopal Reddy, Lecturer in Economics and later Sri.G.Venkatesulu, Lecturer in Chemistry, acted as the Coordinators for MANA-TV Programmes.

GAMES AND SPORTS

Our college students are having tremendous potential in games and sports activities. Pavani of B.Sc (BZC) secured third place in shot-put event in the S.K.University, Inter-Collegiate sports meet during 2011.
10 students of our college were selected for the state level women’s Hand Ball Tournament held at Nandyal during December,2011.
Jyothermayee of II B.Com, selected to the state team and participated in the National Level Women’s Hand Ball Tournament at New Delhi, in January,2012.
